Sri Lanka continues to confront one of the worst flood disasters in recent history, with relentless rains since 24 November submerging communities, destroying homes, cutting off major roads, and erasing decades of livelihoods.
The floods and landslides caused by Cyclone Ditwah have left thousands displaced, damaged homes, and disrupted essential services such as electricity, water, and communications. Entire neighbourhoods remain underwater or buried under mud, with many villages still unreachable.
The official death toll has tragically risen to over 300, with 366 missing and tens of thousands of families are living in temporary shelters or unsafe conditions.
The Sri Lanka Red Cross is on the ground providing lifesaving assistance—delivering shelter, clean water, medical support, and essential relief supplies to families affected.
